King of France and Navarre (born 1755) from 1815 (save a brief interruption in that year while fleeing Napoleon during the Hundred Days) until his death in 1824. Louis himself claimed that his reign dated from the death of his nephew, the Dauphin Louis XVII, in 1795. Manuscript DS, in French, signed “Louis Stanislas Xavier,” one page, 10.5 x 16.5, March 11, 1780. Untranslated document signed at the conclusion with his birth name. In very good condition, with central horizontal fold, vertical crease to left side, small pencil notation to bottom, a few chips to edge, as well as some light creasing and soiling.
