King of France (born 1638) from 1643 until his death in 1715, known as the ‘Sun King’ for the glittering splendor of his court at Versailles and the unparalleled glory of France during his 72-year reign. Manuscript DS, signed “Louis,” one page both sides, 9.75 x 14.75, February 19, 1685. An untranslated document involving the Baron d’Aliz. In very good condition, with folds, toning, mild show-through, a few light stains, light wear and chips to edges (not affecting text), and tape to one margin of second page, slightly touching a few words, the document nonetheless remaining quite presentable, with a strong, large signature.
