In part: "Haveing by my Warrant dated the first of this instant October directed you to imprest Seamen for his Majs. Service; and observing that small returns are made of Menn in the Corporations where the Magistrates only are empowered to presse I therefore desire that you will not wholly rely on the Magistrates of the Corporations within your Jurisdiction for the impresting of the Menn, but at least that you appoint some discreete person to joyne with them therein that his Majs. service may be more effectually executed." Signed at the conclusion by James as Duke of York and Albany, in his capacity as Lord High Admiral of England. In fine condition. Accompanied by an ALS by James's secretary, Sir William Coventry, enclosing the letter to Lord Townshend.
