Rare official color satin-finish 6.75 x 9 portrait of the Jordanian King and Queen presented to former US Secretary of State James A. Baker III, presented in a 9 x 12.5 mat, signed on the mat in felt tip by both King Hussein and Queen Noor, and dated 1989. The presentation inscription reads: "With our high esteem and warm wishes to our good friends Secretary and Mrs. James A. Baker III." Displayed in an 11 x 16 royal presentation frame by Jarrolds of Knightsbridge (London), of maroon wide grain calf leather with gilt line surround and the King’s personal monogram under a King’s Crown in gilt at the raised head; red silk backed. In very good to fine condition, with light dampstaining causing slight bleeding to the signatures and inscription, and dampstaining to the back of the frame. Accompanied by a small gilt-edged card with royal crown, reading: "Hussein I and Noor Al Hussein."

King Hussein reigned from 11 August 1952 until his death in 1995 and was revered as a member of the Hashemite family and a direct descendent of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). Hussein skillfully maneuvered his country through decades of conflict in the Middle East and ultimately came to be seen as both a wise and compassionate monarch, becoming the second regional leader to sign a peace treaty with Israel in 1994. Queen Noor remains the Dowager Queen of Jordan and is active in public service, including serving as a member of the Board of Commissioners of the International Commission on Missing Persons. She is also President of the United World Colleges movement. Secretary Baker served as White House Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Treasury under President Ronald Reagan; and as US Secretary of State and White House Chief of Staff under President George H. W. Bush.
