Private Cover, King George V, 1931, Complete set of 6V. stamps affixed of the Inauguration of New Delhi, the inauguration of New Delhi was commemorated as a New Capital of India. Cover was sent from Bombay by “E. SPINNER & CO. BOMBAY” to Switzerland, and addressed to “Mrs. B. Frohlich - Meyer | Schinhut | Meilen | Ctw. Zurich | Switzerland”, 3 cancellation seals of “BOMBAY G.P.O. | 20 FEB 3 | 5 - PM” applied, hand endorsed ‘Registered’ strike-out, 3 waxed seals also on cover to protect as insured cover, very good condition, Rare.
Note: A set of six stamps was issued on 9th February 1931 to mark the inauguration of New Delhi as the new capital of India. The stamps, featuring famous landscapes of the city, were designed by W. Barr.
