King George V autograph letter signed during the first few months of his reign. Letter on his personal stationery bears his royal cypher in silver gilt. Datelined Buckingham Palace, 18 December 1910, letter is addressed to his close friend The Right Honourable Lord Horace Farquhar, who held the position of Master of the Household to George's father, King Edward VII. Letter reads in full, ''My dear Horace, Thanks for your letter. Bigge is sending you a message from me which you might read tomorrow at the meeting of the League of Mercy. Glad you had 3 such good days at shooting at Castle Rising last week. If you are there on 28th I hope you will come & shoot with me at Sandringham that week. I will let you know, we have anyhow got Wolferton wood. I had read the story about Mr. Asquith before. I got a long letter from Louise yesterday [Duchess of Connaught] I fear they had a rough time of it in the Bay, [the ship missed its stop at Tenerife due to conditions] but they all seemed well. Thank goodness the weather is a little better today. Hoping to see you soon. Believe me Yr sincere friend George R.I.'' 2pp. letter is written on a single sheet of mourning stationery, in honor of King Edward VII who passed away 7 months prior. Measures 5.5'' x 7.5''. Light toning and creasing, else near fine.
