King of Great Britain and Ireland (1762–1830) from 1820 to his death. DS, signed “George PR,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 9.5 x 14.5, March 25, 1818. King George approves “an Act…passed in this present session of Parliament, entitled, ‘An Act for punishing Mutiny and Desertion, and for the better Payment of the Army and their Quarters’…We do hereby authorize and empower you from time to time as occasion may require, to convene…General Courts Martial for the Trial of any Officer or Soldier of His Majesty’s Forces under your Command, charged with Mutiny or Desertion.” Boldly signed at the top by George as prince regent and countersigned at the conclusion by Sidmouth. The paper seal affixed to the first page remains fully intact. Crudely tape-repaired separations along intersecting folds, small edge tears, scattered toning, and a few pencil notations, otherwise very good condition.
