<B>King George III of England Document Signed</B></I> "<I>George R.</B></I>" One page, 24" x 16", Court at St. James, December 18, 1789. The document reads in part, "<I>…Whereas we have thought it necessary for the encouragement of our Subjects trading to or residing in North America, to appoint a Consul to the States of Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hampshire to take care of their Affairs and to aid and assist them in all their lawful Concerns, and endeavor to procure for them that Justice and Equity which shall be agreeable to the Peace and good Correspondence established between us and the United States…</B></I>" It was during George's reign that Britain lost many of its colonies in North America. He is believed to have suffered from the blood disease, porphyria that caused his legendary mental illness and odd behavior. <BR><BR>The document is in Very Fine condition; usual folds are present; docketing information present on verso.
