In part: "Being informed that the poorer sort of our subjects in and about our City of London do suffer great hardships…and being graciously disposed to do all that lyes in us for their release and support, we have thought fit to signify our pleasure to the…Lord Bishop of London that he takes care for publication to be made in all the Parish Churches…the Lord's Day next following the date of the presents for the Church Wardens and overseers of the poor of each parish to collect the benevolence of charitable and well-disposed people at their respected dwellings…for and towards support and relief of our…poor subjects and to cause the money so collected…to be distributed to the several parishes as you…and the Lord Bishop shall think fit." Prominently signed at the head by King George II and countersigned at the conclusion by his principal advisor John Carteret, 2nd Earl Granville.
