His political prowess and enlightened attitudes toward religion, learning, and the humanities earned him the sobriquet “Frederick the Great.” LS in German, signed “Frch,” one page, 7.5 x 4.5, September 10, 1778. Letter to the Regimentsquartiermeister Böttcher with the Order, (translated): “daß der Kriegs-Rath Buchholtz, was instructed to balance the open invoice of the First Battalions Garde, for August, advance of the remaining balance of 237 Thaler; I will personally take care of it.” In fine condition, with a central vertical fold, and a uniform shade of mild toning.
