Two scarce, untranslated letters: an LS in Danish, signed "Frederick R," one page, 8.5 x 13.5, February 18, 1834; and an ALS in French, signed "Cousin Marie," one page, 7.5 x 9.5, December 31, 1816. In overall very good to fine condition, with soiling and small tears to top and bottom edges of the Frederick letter.

Frederick VI (1768–1839) served as last King of Denmark–Norway before losing the Norwegian crown in 1814 as a result of the French defeat in the Napoleonic Wars; he remained King of Denmark until his death. His wife, Marie of Hesse-Kassel (1767–1852), served as regent of Denmark during his absence to attend the Vienna Congress in 1814–1815.
