Illuminated vellum DS signed “Franciscus Josephus,” in Latin, one page, 22.25 x 19, October 30, 1886. The Austrian emperor appoints Doctor Karl Esmarch as a full professor of Roman law at the German University in Prague. Matted and framed to an overall size of 29.5 x 26.5. In fine condition with intersecting folds (a vertical fold passing through the end of his signature) and scattered soiling. The raised seal is fully intact. Oversized.
