Letter of state from Edward to the provisional governor of Cuba, introducing an ambassador. In part: “Being desirous to improve the relations of friendship and good understanding which already happily subsist between Britain and the Republic of Cuba, we have made choice of…Arthur Cunningham Grant Duff, Esquire, to reside with you in the character of Our Minister Resident.” In very good condition, with mounting remnants to edges and scattered toning and soiling.
