TLS signed "Yours most sincerely, Charles," one page, 8 x 13, Highgrove House letterhead, March 24, 1999. Letter to Professor Challis, in full: "Although I fear this is somewhat belated, I just wanted to say how delighted I am that the initiative on integrated healthcare is proceeding so well following Michael Fox’s appointment as FIM’s first Chief Executive. I thought last year’s conference was an immense success and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you most sincerely for all your devoted support for this initiative over the past few years.

I am especially encouraged that we have now been able to move forward with the Foundation for Integrated Medicine. I regard the work of this organisation as critical to the ongoing success of the initiative and I hope you will continue to give your help during the next stages of progress. I think there is now a very real window of opportunity to make a substantial difference in this complex field and I hope we can all find the best possible way of taking this initiative forward. However, to do so I continue to need your help!

I would value greatly an opportunity to meet with you and other members of the various working groups to get a direct feel for your own thoughts on the future and wonder whether, perhaps in September, you might be able to join me at Highgrove for a meeting and then stay on afterwards for lunch (even a barbecue, weather permitting!) I look forward to hearing from you, and this comes with my very best wishes." Charles adds the salutation in his own hand. In very good to fine condition, with light creasing to the blank areas, and staple holes to the upper left corner.

The Foundation for Integrated Health (FIH) was a controversial charity run by King Charles III (then Prince of Wales) founded in 1993. The foundation promoted complementary and alternative medicine, preferring to use the term 'integrated health,' and lobbied for its inclusion in the National Health Service. The charity closed in 2010 after allegations of fraud and money laundering led to the arrest of a former official.
