James Keyston started the company in 1868 by making and selling whips and lashes. His brother W.D joined a couple of years later and ran the factory while James traveled the countryside selling their products by wagon. At the turn of the century they began creating saddles and later after after the great earthquake they become the largest saddle and leather shop on the Pacific. Attached at the bottom of the images is anexample of a catalog from 1939. The rare saddle listed here is very similar to the 1939 “The Coral Boss.” The catalog is only an image and does not come with the saddle. This is a very rare and desirable saddle isin good condition with a 13.5" seat. The saddle shows a simple tooled pinstripe with small flowers and six handmade silver conchos.
