Originally designed as a spoof of such comics as Daredevil and X-Men, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 was, not surprisingly, rejected by Marvel... and every other publisher. Eastman and Laird weren't out to change history... they just wanted to have some fun. How were they supposed to know they would end up creating one of the most commercially successful independent comic series ever made? From the historic first issue comes these pencil layouts of a double page spread, which features all four Turtles in action, drawn on a sheet of 8.5" x 11.75" sketch paper. The work is signed by Kevin Eastman on the back. Estimate: $2,500-up

<!--

 Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions

No Prior Data Recorded

<font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
