8 3/4" smooth bore bbl, walnut stock, brass furniture, marked T.Keltland & CO. This is a nice original antique pistol , the brass trim is decorated with a few lines of hand engraving. The lock is a delightful example of a English flintlock, with a few engraved accents on the lock plate and a graceful goose neck cock. The pan does not have external bridle. The lock has a strong mainspring, smooth trigger release, a secure half-cock notch. The T. Ketland markings, is for Thomas Ketland similar locks will be found with W. Ketland markings, Thomas was the eldest son. The English walnut stock displays some wood shrinkage with the brass buttcap standing above the grip of the stock. The rear of the lock panel has 1/2" long crack at the tail of the lock. The muzzle end of the stock has two repaired cracks tapering toward the forward ramrod pipe, The stock also has a crack down the centerline of the ramrod channel. Our bottom view shows the tapered wooden ramrod with a flared horn tip. The ramrod fits snugly, and it appears to be the original to the pistol. The ramrod pipes are formed from sheet brass with raised rings at the ends from strength. The trigger bow has been lightly engraved. The forward finial is engraved as a feather. the bow has been slightly tipped to one side, giving it an off-centered appearance. The stock has a crack from the front triggerguard finial tot the lock panel. The lock panel has a 5/8" long wood chip missing. Condition is very good. *Antique Firearm*
