Kentucky Rifle.
Description Circa 1810 to 1825. OL: 53 - 3/4". BL: 38 - 3/4". TB: Octagonal. LM: Flintlock. Obvious re-conversion and replaced. PB: 4-piece. S: Curly Maple. SR: Wrist repair with a poorly re-glued diagonal break in the forestock and the rear ramrod ferrule. 16 silver inlays. This attractive Kentucky rifle has a desirable horse-head patchbox, elongated toe-plate, rear ferrule scalloped tailpiece, and 16 silver inlays, a number of which are hearts, one fish, and other forms. The metal engravings are abundant but are not highly sophisticated. There are three breaks in the rifle, which have been poorly re-glued but could be easily repaired in a better fashion. The obvious re-conversion could also be easily re-done. Other than the replaced lock and several old re-glued breaks, the rifle is fully intact with all original wood and metal parts. Condition (Good).
