Kentucky Rifle.
Description Circa 1830 to 1840. OL: 55". BL: 41". TB: Octagonal. LM: Flintlock. Obvious re-conversion. PB: 4-piece. SR: One patched area. Incised carving. This Kentucky rifle is unsigned but attributed to one of the later Albright family members who worked in the Upper Susquehanna School. The stock has magnificent bold curly maple and has a replaced piece in front of the lock which is half-inch by 7 - 1/2 inches. The cheekpiece has pleasing incised carving behind and in front of the cheekpiece which carries its original silver half moon inlay. The sideplate is a modern replacement and the re-converted lock is possibly too. The four-piece brass patchbox is the typical outline of the Albright family of gunsmiths. Both the wear-plate and toe-plate are original and the octagonal barrel has lost one inch on the muzzle end. Condition (Good).
