Description Circa 1770 to 1780. OL: 57". BL: 41 - 1/2". TB: Octagon to round. LM: Flintlock. Obvious re-conversion. S: Curly Maple. Incise carving. This early Kentucky fowling piece has bold brass hardware of the earliest type seen on North Eastern Pennsylvania guns and a curly maple stock which has been replaced approximately 24 inches out to the muzzle end. The flintlock and sideplate are modern replacements. The stock has early style relief carving behind the tan and petite "swag" molding on the cheekpiece, behind which is a classic "back to back" c-scroll pattern incised into the wood. Condition (Fair).
