Kentucky Rifle.
Description Circa 1810 to 1820. OL: 59 - 1/4". BL: 44". TB: Octagonal. LM: Flintlock. PB: 4-piece. Nine silver inlays, one copper inlay, and one bone inlay. This Kentucky rifle, signed in script "W. McClure", has a very rare and special feature. There is a full figure of an "American Indian" engraved on the multi-pierced brass patchbox. The curly maple stock has its old surface and a graceful Roman architecture on the buttstock and there is a long, engraved toe-plate with bone inlay on the underside of the buttstock. Both the trigger guard and the forearm wear-plate are engraved. Several of the inlays are replacements as is the nose-cap; however, the rifle is very sound in its condition, even retaining its original rifling. While this rifle is very pleasing, the feature of the full figure standing American Indian smoking a pipe and wearing a feathered headdress sets it apart from many other rifles, making it unque. Condition (Very Good).
