Kentucky Rifle.
Description Circa 1820 to 1820. OL: 59 - 1/2”. BL: 44”. TB: Octagonal. LM: Flintlock. Obvious re-conversion. PB: 4-piece. S: Curly Maple. SR: Lengthened from the rear ramrod ferrule forward 32 inches. Incise carving. Two silver inlays. This Kentucky style is signed “A. Kiser”; however this maker is known but undocumented. The rifle is pleasing with nice incised carvings behind the cheekpiece and the “daisy-headed” patchbox is quite bold with deep engraving. While this may be a Lancaster County style it also could have origins in Virginia. The flintlock is a reconversion and the forestock has been replaced from the rear ramrod pipe forward. Condition (Good).
