Kentucky Rifle.
Description Circa 1820 to 1830. OL: 61 - 1/2". BL: 46 - 1/4". TB: Octagon to round. LM: Flintlock. PB: 4-piece. S: Curly Maple. Five silver inlays. This signed Nicholas Beyer rifle is another example of an "in-period" re-stock; however, it remains in original flintlock condition and has his most desirable patchbox finial, the "signing Indian playing his tom-tom". The stock still carries the original silver inlays and brass mountings. Only minor wood restoration at the nose-cap and above the lock are evident. The comb has a "flying arrow" inlay with a "standing eagle" inlay behind the cheekpiece. It is more than possibl that N. Beyer himself re-stocked this rifle has he lived until 1850. Condition (Good).
