<B>Kelly Freas - Mad #70/Alfred E. Neuman Skating Cover Preliminary Painting Original Art (1961).</B></I> Kelly Freas may have had a spectacular career as a science fiction artist, but for many of his fans, his legendary "<B>Mad</B></I>-sterpieces" just can't be beat. This silly scene was painted as a preliminary study for the cover of <B>Mad</B></I> #70. Kelly Freas' vintage, hand-written note on the back of the piece reads, "Jim, This makes you the possessor of the only original Alfie ever to escape from the <B>Mad</B></I> offices. It's part of an unfinished painting eventually reversed left to right and used as a cover last winter. Best -- Kelly Freas."
