Featured in this lot is this Hand Beaded Glass Decanter by Sioux artist Kathleen Kills Thunder. The glass decanter and attached stopper are fully beaded with a traditional design of Kills Thunder that shows geometric patterns and is decorated with mother of pearl rectangular beads. Kathleen Kills Thunder (her legal name) was born in 1947 in Seattle Washington. Her father, Ben Kills Thunder was a Sioux Indian from the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Northeast Montana, home to the Sisseton, Wahpeton, Yanktonais, and Teton Hunkpapa Sioux. Her mother was Spanish / Irish. Kathy grew up shuttling back and forth between Seattle and the Colville Indian Reservation in Northeast Washington. She takes her inspiration from her heritage and the environment of the Colville Indian Reservation. Kathy has been painting and beading since she was six. She uses a bright color-palette and prodigious imagination in creating her painted and beaded work. Kathy currently lives in Southeast Arizona and raises buffalo when she is not pursuing her artistic endeavors. The decanter is in nice condition with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements are 7 1/4"H x 5 1/2" diameter. The total weight is 2lb 2oz.
