DS, two pages, 8.5 x 11, November 22, 1949. Agreement between Hepburn and the Theatre Guild, in which she agrees to a compensation plan of $1000 per week during the first 12 weeks of the run of a play, thereafter earning $1500 per week or 10% of the box office gross. In fine condition, with expected document wear. In the fall of 1949, Hepburn signed a contract with the Theatre Guild to appear as Rosalind in Shakespeare’s As You Like It; she was largely responsible for the casting, costuming, set design, and other production aspects. The run lasted for 145 performances, and she was offered the starring role in The African Queen as a result of the play’s commercial success.
