Uncommon AMQS on an off-white 6.5 x 4.5 sheet signed in fountain pen, “Kate Douglas Wiggin,  New York Feb. 23, 1914,” who adds three bars of music from "Bleubart Motiv, FF Meastero Pompero,” with Wiggin adding below: “Souvenir of my burlesque lecture recital on a posthumous opera by Wagner entitled ‘Bluebeard,’ an occasion made delightful by the art of my brother artist Leon Rennay." In fine condition. Although noted as a children’s novelist, Wiggin was also a songwriter and composer of music.  In 1914 she published ‘Bluebeard: A Musical Fantasy,’ a music-drama spoof on Wagnerian opera and music critics. The ‘Blaubart Motiv’ (Bluebeard Motif) was among the more prominent motifs in this book. Wiggin gave a few lecture-recitals of her book after it was published. Leon Rennay, the recipient of this autograph, was the professional name used by Rene Vion Papin (1879-1920), an American baritone who gave command recitals before Queen Victoria and the Italian Sovereigns.
