Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Signed Yearbook
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
1965 yearbook from New York catholic high school Power Memorial Academy, signed clearly by senior Lew Alcindor, who of course later renamed himself Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He signs ''Lew Alcindor'' boldly in blue ink over his senior photo. The yearbook also features seven photos of Alcindor and the basketball team, including action shots that portend his soon-to-be-famous ''skyhook.'' Additionally, Alcindor's mom is featured on the Mom's Club page and there's a funny caption on page eight under a photo of the principal talking to a teacher on the bleachers. It reads: '''How about Alcindor Memorial Academy...Huh?''', alluding to the fact that Alcindor carried his high school team to three straight championships, giving the school an excellent national reputation for basketball. He followed that with three National Championship-winning seasons playing for UCLA and a incredible NBA career during which he became the NBA's all-time highest scorer. This remarkable piece of early Abdul-Jabbar memorabilia measures 9'' x 12.25'' and runs 172pp. Signed throughout by classmates of the original owner, whose name is written on the front free endpaper. Minimal toning to pages, else fine.
