Measuring 22 inches long, with a 15 inch blade, showing a wavy temper line and fitted with a gilt brass collar and spacers. The smith's signature is present on the tang. Four-lobed tsuba, with cloud-themed engraving and raised flying dragons made of shibuchi with gold accents. Golden dragons are present on the fuchi, kashira and menuki. Black lacquer finished saya, with a kogatana slot opposite the kurikata and the lower half covered with a wrap-around scene of a sakura tree positioned before a military camp curtain, rendered in brown, red and gold lacquer. The curtain is adorned with a sasarindo, the family crest of the Minamoto Clan, one of the dominant political forces of the Heian Era.

Very good. The blade shows a few small areas of pitting and mild handling marks, with a fine state of polish. Mekugi and Kogatana are not present. The tsuba and hilt fittings are excellent with attractive engraving and finish. Some minor chips and handling marks are present on the lacquer, with minor cracking around the kogatana slot and fine detail in the field scene.
