<Our item number 99195><B>&#40;Hawaii&#41; Kamehameha III Royal Patent No. 418 - 1851.</B> &#40;1814-54&#41; He became king &#40;1824-54&#41; after his brother, King Liholiho, died from measles while visiting London. His mother, Queen Kaahumanu, served as his regent until her death in 1832; under her influence, he became a Christian and banned many Hawaiian traditions and practices. He reigned longer than any other Hawaiian king. <BR><BR>Partly printed bi-lingual Royal Patent No. 418 signed &#34;<I>Kamehameha</I>&#34; twice as King, once on page 2 on the Hawaiian language portion and once on page 4 on the English translation, 4pp, 13x8¼&#34;, 2 September 1851. Countersigned twice by Keoni Ana. Very good; light toning and seal transfer. Regarding a transfer of land at Nunanu, Honolulu that was bought by Oral R. Wood from Luli.
