WANDERING VIOLINIST 1921, a silver print signed in pencil on the verso. Later printing. Matted.
Hungarian born KertTsz graduated from the Academy of Commerce in Budapest in 1912. Working at the Budapest Stock Exchange from 1912 to 1914 as a clerk he spent all his free time photographing street and genre scenes. During service with the Austro-Hungarian army KertTsz photographed his comrades until he was wounded in battle. Many of the images he made were lost during the Hungarian Revolution of 1918. He returned to shooting street scenes of which this is perhaps the most well known.
