Fabulous handpainted KPM-style portrait plaque depicting a wonderful rendition of Night Smoker, by the artist Georg Hom. Hom (1838 to 1911) painted his well-known piece sometime during the late 1800s. This rendition was painted somewhat contemporaneously, by a porcelain artist of comparable skill. It is inscribed on the reverse, Der Raucher nochher Hom (The Smoker after Hom). The piece measures 7 3/8" by 5 1/8" and is in very good-to-excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs, and virtually zero wear to the handpainted finish. The porcelain blank is stamped and marked on the back, identifying the manufacturer as Bros. Heuback Lichte, and dates sometime after the year 1882. It is signed by the artist, but the signature is extremely difficult to read, with certainty.
