Hand-painted & hand-fired French porcelain painting of Boucher's Moment of Love, Rinaldo & Armida by KPM, Konigliche Porzellan Manufaktur (Royal Porcelain Factory) in Berlin. On the reverse, impressed KPM & scepter mark. Oval portion of the painting is approx 17 1/2" X 24". Overall size approx. 24" X 30". Ornate cast gold gilt brass over enamel heavyweight frame. ** the ornament on the left bottom portion of the frame is missing, per photos, & reflected in the lowered reserve price. *** this is a heavyweight piece that will require special pick up/ delivery arrangements. The original painted version of this scene version was Boucher's admission piece for the Royal Academy in 1794. The work remained in the Academy throughout the 18th century, entered the Museum Central des Arts de la Replublique, which would later become The Louvre. The original version was inspired by Tasso's Gerusalemme liberata, a romantic poem of the First Crusade.Â
