<p><b><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:windowtext'>KONSTANTIN TSIOLKOVSKI </span></b><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Arial; color:windowtext'>(1857-1935). The first person to adopt a scientific approach to rocket-powered space travel. At age 24, he concluded an abstract of the relationships between rocket velocity, mass of propellant, and velocity of ejected gases, his famous ‘rocket equation’ which laid the foundations for future rocket design. Annotation in Russian laid to cover of self-published book, contents lacking. In full, “<i>V. Common notes. Conclusions about rocket. Kaluga, 1912</i>.” Penned in purple ink. In blue ink Tsiolkovski pens beneath, “<i>To add and sort. K. Tsiolkovski. 1928</i>.” Leather spine and tips evidence moderate/severe scuffing; gilt lettering on spine partially obscured; o/w in Fair/Good condition. Rare.</span></p>

1. Auction Catalogue No. 19 is a Mail, Fax, Phone, Email and
Internet Live Bid Auction and is conducted under the laws of the State
of West Virginia by Gil Griggs, Licensee of Charleston, W. V. License
No. 002.
2. Absentee bid closing date is April 5th, 2002, 10:00 PM EST.
3. There is a 15% Buyer’s Premium charged on the final hammer price
of each lot. An additional 2½% Premium will be added to any lots
purchased through ebayliveauctions.com.
4. The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid for any
reason.

6. In the event of duplicate high bids, the earliest bid received
will be the winner.
