(1897 - 1973) Russian field marshal who headed the Kalinin Front and resisted the German assault on Moscow. Later, Konev threw back the German attack at Kursk, surrounded ten divisions, and advanced with Zhukov to occupy Berlin. Rare partly-printed war-date D.S. 2pp. legal folio, Khabarovsk [Siberia], May 21, 1940, an order to the troops of the Second Separate Army, in part: "".. The first medical conference of Army doctors took place from April 10-15. It collected 350 participants...discussed: surgical help and sanitary services during the battle of Khasan and Khallin [two pre-World War II battles between the USSR and Japan]...Main problems discussed were kidney disease and infections..."".
