KNIGHTS CROSS WINNERS PROPAGANDA POSTER*
A striking and rare color Nazi propaganda poster featuring a photograph of a painting of prominent recipients of the Knight's Cross with Joseph "Sepp" Dietrich at center, flanked by Gerhard Bremer and Kurt ("Panzer") Meyer, titled "RITTERKREUZTRÄGER DER SS LEIBSTANDARTE ADOLF HITLER" ("Knight's Cross recipients of the 1st SS Division, Adolf Hitler"). Issued primarily as a propaganda piece, it was prepared for "KUNSTBLATT FÜR DIE ZEIT VOM 22 SEPTEMBER - 25 SEPTEMBER 1943" with a quote from Adolf Hiter below celebrating the qualities of the pictured men as typical of the best of the German people. The 1st SS Division was technically Hitler's personal bodyguard but also participated in numerous campaigns. Following the war, the division was charged with numerous atrocities and they are believed to have been responsible for the murder of over 5,000 people. The original painting depicted here was a gift to Hitler by Ernst Krause, an artist attached to the 1st SS Division. The painting hung at the great German Exhibition in Munich in 1942. Hitler was so pleased by the painting that he commissioned Krause with the design of the Eastern Front Meal (Ostmedaille). The original painting was lost later in the war. Light folds, else fine condition. Double matted and framed for an excellent presentation. Requires third-party shipping. Please see Terms and Conditions of Sale.

Estimate: $800 - 1,200.
