<b>212. HUSBAND E. KIMMEL</b> (1882 - 1968) American admiral and Commander of the Pacific Fleet when it was attacked by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor. Kimmel was consequently dismissed. He fought the charges for years, claiming that Roosevelt had prior knowledge of the attack. Fine content printed D.S. 8pp. 4to., [Privately Printed, Groton, Conn., 1962], a printed edition of Kimmel's detailed and impassioned letters to Congressman Clarence Cannon and J. Edgar Hoover in response to accusations that his conduct directly led to the disaster at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He refutes allegations concerning a <i>"...lack of cooperation between Army and Navy throwing victory away...</i>" made before a subcommittee of the Appropriation Committee in 1958. He responds that <i>"...Your remarks are a continuation of the frantic efforts of the Roosevelt Administration to divert attention from the failures in Washington and to place the blame for the catastrophe on the Commanders at Pear Harbor...</i>".
