KESSELRING, ALBERT
1885 - 1960) Field Marshal in the Luftwaffe and at Nuremburg was tried for war crimes. Death sentence commuted due to ill health. Rare war-date typed D.S. 2pp. 4to., [Berlin?], May 17, 1943 in which First Lt. Ernst von Weyrauch is recommended for promotion to Squadron Commander for "Showing leadership against the enemy and on the ground. Confirmed in 165 reconnaissance flights". Also signed by Luftwaffe Gen. HANS SEIDEMANN AS COMMANDER OF Luftwaffe forces at Tunis. Ironically, Seidemann made this recommendation on May 3, 1943, Axis forces in North Africa surrendered on May 13, and Kesselring approved the appointment on May 17. File holes at left margin, else very good.
