KENTUCKY SUPREME COURT PHOTOGRAPH ALBUMS WITH TAFT AUTOGRAPH.
KENTUCKY SUPREME COURT PHOTOGRAPH ALBUMS WITH TAFT AUTOGRAPH. Lot of 2 early 20th century photograph albums pertaining to the state supreme court of 1891 and later, and Frankfort, Kentucky, each 9 x 10." Each contains silver gelatin photographs of varying sizes. First with a number of individual and montage portraits of the Kentucky supreme court, including individual portraits of John Harlan, and an autographed photograph of W. O. Bradly, and one of William Howard Taft and his wife autographed to "Judge Durrett" (Reuben T. 1824-1913, Louisville, Kentucky attorney and historian). Presumably these albums belonged to Durrett, whose massive collecition of Kentuckiana -- considered one of the finest ever assembled -- was purchased by the University of Chicago upon his death in 1913. The second album contains vernacular images of Frankfort, including views of the "long bridge" a covered span over the Kentucky river, the old capital building, scenes along the Kentucky river, and more. Albums both shaken, one lacking front cover. Images mostly VG-EXC. PLEASE NOTE: THIS LOT WILL BE SOLD ON EBAY LIVE AUCTIONS BETWEEN 5:00-6:00pm EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME ON MAY 10, 2002.
