KENNEDY, JOHN F.
(1917 - 1963) Thirty-fifth President of the United States. Kennedy faced-down the Kruschev during the Cuban Missile Crisis, re-invigorated NASA, and signed the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. Assassinated. An exceptionally rare D.S. ""John F. Kennedy"" as President, 1p. folio, Washington, Sept. 22, 1961, a hand-engrossed calligraphic appointment of Judge Irving R. Kaufman of New York as ""United States Circuit Judge, Second Circuit"", co-signed by his brother, Attorney General ROBERT F. KENNEDY (1925-1968). IRVING KAUFMAN (1910-1992) was a noted judge of U. S. District Court for the Southern District of New York from 1949 and judge of U. S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit from 1961 -1987. He is best remembered as the presiding judge in the Ethel and Julius Rosenberg espionage case, sentencing the couple to death for selling atomic secrets to the Russians. Judge Kaufman also sided with John Lennon after a lengthy battle in the U.S. court system over whether Lennon could remain in the U. S. after the famous ""Beatle"" pleaded guilty to drug charges in England. In 1987, President Ronald Reagan awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Kennedy's documents as President are exceedingly rare, and with Robert signing, rarer still. ABPC reports only three such double-signed documents sold in the last fifteen years, and those were pardons. Framed in contemporary maple frame with some scratches affecting molding. This example is in fine condition, with only minor smudges to Kennedy's signature, unexamined out of frame.
