KENNEDY, JOHN F.
(1917 - 1963) Thirty-fifth President of the United States. Kennedy faced-down the Kruschev during the Cuban Missile Crisis, re-invigorated NASA, and signed the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. Assassinated. Autograph notes as Presidential candidate, unsigned, penned on the verso of an envelope addressed to him in Grand Rapids, Mi. In full: "Anderson…time is our time…1860 Republican Democratic party 1912 1932 1960". Slight soiling and wrinkling, else very good. An interesting story lies behind this item: on Oct. 14, 1960, politician and President of American Motors George Romney sent a twelve-page telegram to both Richard Nixon and Kennedy who was barnstorming in Michigan at the time, urging both candidates to not disregard excessive union power, use agriculture to cure hunger, raise foreign standards of living, and curb the expansion of the federal government. That telegram is in this lot, along with newspaper clippings describing its delivery to Kennedy by the Mayor of Grand Rapids, and more. Very good.
