(KENNEDY, JOHN F.)
147. (JOHN F. KENNEDY) A fine collection of eleven black and white photographs, each measuring 8" x 10" taken during his visit to Brooks Air Force Base in San Antionio, Texas on November 21, 1963, less than twenty-four hours before his untimely demise at the hands of Lee Harvey Oswald! Kennedy visited Brooks A.F.B. in Texas to dedicate four buildings on the base that were to house the Aerospace Medical Division headquarters and the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine. This turned out to be his last official act before his assassination in Dallas the following day. The photographs, taken by a military photographer, include most of the original negatives and some of the prints bear filing stamps from Brooks A.F.B. on the verso. Of the photographs in the group, six show Kennedy speaking at the podium with various dignitaries seated behind him, including Jacqueline who is seated next to Lyndon Johnson (while Lady Bird Johnson sits several seats away), as well Texas Governor John Connally and his wife. On the top of the new building, a military guard is clearly visible. Other photographs include a striking close up shot of Kennedy seated during the dedication ceremony, another of Kennedy speaking to the base commander, as well as his visit to inside of the facility. Of the eleven phtographs, four appear to be rephotographs (either whole or part) of other photos in the lot. Some of the photos bear a few light creases, but overall are in near fine condition. A historic grouping of photographs! $700-900
