German fieldmarshall who led the blitzkrieg attack on France, seizing the country within two weeks. He was defeated by Allied forces in Normandy and in the desperate Battle of the Bulge. Original Allied interrogation papers regarding “<i>Gerd von Rundstedt</i>”; his son Hans Gerd von Rundstedt; and his personal medical officer, Erich Heitz. TDS, 2½pp, 4to, [n.p.], May 1, 1945. Signed by the interrogating officer, “<i>Eric M. Winter</i>, T/3.” “<i>Restricted</i>” information briefly outlining the history, promotions, medals, etc. of the Generalfieldmarshall and the circumstances of his surrender. Included is a translation of his discharge papers as “<i>Commander in Chief ‘West,’</i>” wherein von Rundstedt “<i>is relieved from his command and transferred to the Officers reserve Pool of the Army high Command, where he will remain on call at the convenience of the Führer</i>” and notifying him of his replacement by Generalfieldmarshall Kesselring.
