K98 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle with Short Side Rail Scope and Mount

This is a late WWII German K98 rifle produced at the Steyr factory, that was converted into a short side rail sniper rifle. The scope is a late commercial model that is marked on the base of the elevation knob; AJACKS, 4 X90" and "50758". The elevation ring is correctly marked "1-8", with no other markings. This base is a late war version that currently has three large screws and two lock screws, that originally had two taper pins, which have now had the holes plugged in the base when it was fitted to this rifle. The mount is one of the late war versions that has the additional, single wing/locking nut on top of the mount. The receiver ring is marked "bnz/4" with a single "Eagle/77" proof. The right side of the receiver and barrel have the large German Eagle firing proofs along with the serial number. The top of the barrel is marked "43n1104" with a single Eagle/135 Waffenamt proof, indicating Mauser factory inspected. It has the stamped unmarked barrel bands with a stamped trigger guard that has only a "Eagle/135" proof and a milled floor plate numbered to the rifle. The rifle is fitted with a laminated stock and handguard with no visible proofs. It is complete with an unmarked brown leather cross-hatched sling, front sight hood and a cleaning rod. The rifle has matching numbers on the complete bolt assembly floor plate and side of the mount.
