Congressman and senator from Vermont (1810–1898) who authored the Morrill Land–Grant Colleges Act, which provided federal funding for many public colleges and universities. Original 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo by C. Parker of Washington, signed at the bottom of the image in black ink, “Justin S. Morrill.” In very good condition, with some irregular adhesion and brushing to the signature, and a skinned back.
