Taney" on verso, one page front and verso, 7.75" x12.5". Frederick County, Maryland, circa 1806. In part: "Trueman Rawlings late of Frederick County yeoman was attached to answer unto Peter Tulsen in a plea of Trespass upon the case and so forth - And whereupon the said Peter by Roger Brooke Taney his Attorney complains that whereas the said Trueman on the twelfth day of November in the year eighteen hundred and five at Frederick County aforesaid was indebted to the said Peter in the sum of nineteen pounds, seven schillings and four pence current money for sundry matters and articles properly chargeable..." Taney was Jackson's Attorney General and Secretary of the Treasury, when his appointment was rejected by the U.S. Senate. Appointed by Jackson, Taney served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (1836-1864). Browned and slight chipping at left edge, else in fine condition. <I>Accompanied by COA from PSA/DNA.</B></I>
