Julius Schwartz - Photograph, Slide, and Note Collection (1940-2001). Julius Schwartz's legacy as the "Man of Two Worlds" is documented in this incredible lot featuring slides, photographic prints, and hand-written note cards that detail Julie's life in the worlds of SF fandom, comic books, and his work on the Superman character. Three slide carousels of approximately 300 slides capture Julie cavorting with such literary icons as Harlan Ellison, Ray Bradbury, Edmond Hamilton, Jack Williamson, Max Gaines, Jerry Siegel, Sheldon Mayer, and on and on it goes. The carousels, labeled "Superman Slides," have accompanying note cards that detail the history of Superman, with such insider anecdotes as, "6-21-41: Jerry Siegel telephoned treasurer Jack Liebowitz for an advance of $500...'But we just mailed you a check,' exclaimed JSL. 'I know,' replied JS, 'But I have $19,500 in my bank account and I want to round it out to an even 20.' JS got the advance." Many of the slides detail the creative teams on the Superman feature. Also included in the lot are nine photographic prints of creators such as Sid Greene, Mort Weisinger, Ray Palmer, Murphy Anderson, Irwin Hasen, Sheldon Moldoff, Edmond Hamilton, and Jack Williamson. This is a super treasure trove of SF and comic book lore! From the collection of Julius Schwartz. 4 pieces
