German-born composer and conductor (1804–1885). ALS in German, one page both sides, 8 x 9.75, April 29, 1844. Untranslated letter as conductor of the Royal Theatre to the poet and musicologist Ludwig Rellstab in Berlin, regarding a performance of his opera The Brides of Venice. Intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature), a few mounting remnants (one to the center of the reverse affecting a few words), and show-through from writing to opposing sides, otherwise fine condition.
