Author, suffragette, dramatist, poet, and biographer (1819–1910), best remembered as the lyricist of ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic.’ ALS, two pages, 3.5 x 5.25, March 2, 1896. Howe writes to Mrs. Hoyt. In full: “This is to say that I accept the terms offered in your letter for a lecture on the evening of March 26th. These were, twenty dollars and entertainment one night. I shall hope to hear from you later as to your choice of a subject….” Intersecting folds and a few small stains, otherwise fine condition.
