<B>Julia Ward Howe Original Autograph Manuscript Signed</B></I> in full. One page, 5.5" x 8", [Boston], January 1, 1902. A poem written as a thank you note for a gift to noted poet, author, and literary critic Mrs. Louise Chandler Moulton, it reads (in full): "<I>Your silver box is, to my mind, A gift of friendship ever kind. The Giver's match is hard to find.</B></I>" Mrs. Moulton has noted on the original mailing envelope (addressed in Mrs. Howe's handwriting): "<I>Mrs. Julia Ward Howe- a verse of thanks for my matchbox-</B></I>" Excellent item connecting two of the most popular female poets of the late 19th century. Very fine condition with mailing folds. <I>From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.</B></I>
